Performance Tennis at Bristol

 

We are very proud of the offer for our performance tennis players at Bristol. We have a programme that provides an inspiring and supportive environment for all our team players to improve with a more bespoke individualised offer for our Maroon Scholars.

Performance Tennis

BUCS team members have access to:

  • 3 on court trainings a week

  • 2 Strength and Conditioning sessions a week

  • BUCS League competition

  • BUCS Individuals competition

  • NPL competition

  • Performance Analysis

  • Access to the Multi-Disciplinary Team

In the 2022/23 season we have 4 men’s teams and 2 women’s teams competing in BUCS Leagues.

We have access to 10 outdoor courts and train on our 4 indoor courts. Our Strength and Conditioning gym is also on site at our home of Coombe Dingle Sports Complex. Competition

BUCS

All 6 of our teams compete in the British Universities and Colleges Sport leagues. In this 2022/23 season our Men’s 1st team play in Division Western 1A, Men’s 2nds, 3rds and 4ths play in Western Division 2B

In this 2022/23 season our Women’s 1st team compete in Western 1A and our Women’s 2nd team compete in Western 2A

Performance Tennis

National Premier League

We have competed in the National Premier League doubles competition since 2018. In the 2020/21 season Bristol made the National finals amongst 16 of the top clubs and universities in the country. We plan to enter both a men and women’s team in the 2022/23 season.

Vice Chancellor and Maroon Scholarships

Vice Chancellor Scholarship

Our Vice-Chancellor's (VC) Scholars for Sport are an inspirational group who train and compete as part of our student clubs, whilst also driving towards professional athletic careers on the world stage during their time at the University of Bristol.

Scholarships for Sport are offered to a maximum of 10 students each year for £1,500 - £3,000 per student, per annum.

Performance Tennis

Maroon Scholarship

The Maroon programme is a Performance Sport support package available for athletes from Head Coach and Coordinator sports at Bristol (Tennis, Hockey, Rowing, Men’s Rugby, Badminton and Squash).

The Tennis Maroon Scholar programme has grown from 2 scholars in 2020/21 to 5 Scholars 2021/22 and we will look for at least 6 scholar athletes in 2022/23 season.

Successful applicants will benefit from a range of professional sport services including:

  • Free WeAreBristol Sports Pass

  • Club membership fully paid for by UBTC

  • Weekly Small Group or 1:1 Head Coach Sessions

  • Up to 4 S and C Sessions

  • Nutrition Consultancy 

  • Sport Psych Consultancy

  • Sports Medicine Clinic Consultancy

  • Reductions on UBTC Kit

  • 3 x tournament entry fees (for example British Tours)

  • 3 free restrings a year

The application process for the Maroon Scholarship will open in June 2022 and Scholars will be named in October 2022.
